Parkinsons Aquatic Exercise Class and
Support Group This class is geared for individuals with Parkinson's Disease and meets twice weekly: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30 a.m. at the Downtown YMCA. A medical release must be obtained by a treating physician before attending class. An individual appointment is set up with the instructor prior to class attendance. All exercises are done standing in chest-deep warm water; no swimming is required. Main areas of focus are: large motor skills, balance, light cardio, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and voice/diction. Participants of the Parkinson Aquatic Exercise Class meet Monthly at a local restaurant with family members and care- givers for fellowship and encouraging inspirational speakers. This support group meets the last Thursday of each month. Must be a YMCA member to participate in the program. |
