YMCA Core Values
Frank P. Phillips Memorial YMCA is focused on living out our Christian mission. We want to genuinely serve and care for people within the YMCA community. We seek to include these five Core Values in all our programs and classes.
Caring- To put others before yourself, to love others, to be sensitive to the well-being of others, to help others.
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.—John 15:12
Honesty -To tell the truth, to act in such a way that you are worthy of trust, to have integrity, to make sure your choices match up with your values.
Better to be poor and honest than rich and dishonest. No one believes a liar, but everyone respects the words of an honest man.--Proverbs 19:1, 21:28
Respect - To treat others as you would have them treat you, to value the worth of every person including yourself, to be cordial even if you disagree with someone.
Treat people the same way you want them to treat you. Show proper respect to everyone.— Matthew 7:12
Responsibility - To do what you should, to do what is right, to be accountable for your behavior and obligations.
“Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, for each one should carry his own load.” —Galations 6:4-5
Faith-To develop your relationship with God, to be a seeker of truth, to trust God with your life, to be sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see.
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.—Hebrews 11:1,6
